IPEC honoured to host the OAISA Annual General Assembly in Harare (17–20 November 2025)

The Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) is pleased to announce that Zimbabwe will host the Organization of African Insurance Supervisory Authorities (OAISA) Annual General Assembly in Harare from Monday 17 November to Thursday 20 November 2025 in Harare.

The gathering will bring together around insurance supervisory leaders and technical experts from across the continent to deliberate on strengthening regulatory cooperation, building resilient insurance markets, and advancing consumer protection and financial inclusion.

The meetings will start with the Executive Committee Meeting on Monday, the capacity-building seminar on Wednesday and the Annual General Assembly on Thursday.

IPEC Commissioner, Dr Grace Muradzikwa said:

“We are deeply honoured to welcome our fellow supervisory authorities to Harare for this landmark OAISA General Assembly. Hosting this meeting affirms Zimbabwe’s growing role in shaping a safer, fairer and more inclusive insurance marketplace across Africa. The capacity-building seminar agenda—spanning the agricultural index-based insurance solutions for climate-related risks, the risk-based supervision, and the opportunities of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), speaks to the realities facing our jurisdictions today. We look forward to robust, practical exchanges that translate into better-regulated markets and better-protected policyholders.”

OAISA President, Mr Issouf Traoré, commented:

“OAISA is delighted to convene in Harare under the stewardship of IPEC. Our Assembly is a working forum where supervisors align on standards, cooperation and capacity—the foundation for trust in insurance. The Zimbabwe meeting will accelerate shared solutions to emerging risks, foster innovation that expands inclusion, and reinforce our collective commitment to effective, proportionate regulation in the service of citizens and economies across Africa.”

The meeting will bring together Commissioners and senior officials from supervisory authorities from across the continent.
