1) JOB VACANCY: PUBLIC RELATIONS ASSISTANT                                         LOCATION: HARARE

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the above position which has arisen within the Insurance and Pensions Commission.

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The incumbent will be assisting in the implementation of various Public Relations/Marketing strategies in the Public Relations Department.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Assist in planning and execution of Public Relations awareness and campaigns, as well as marketing events.
  • Assist in managing and updating the IPEC web-content including other social media platforms.
  • Conduct research to support Public Relations activities.
  • Draft and distribute content such as newsletters and releases to IPEC stakeholders.
  • Support stakeholder relationship management including the media, policyholders, pension fund members and other public institutions, among others.
  • Maintain calendar of PR activities such as editorials, press conferences, road shows and media lists.
  • Assist in tracking media coverage or PR metrics (e.g. web analytics)

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Proven experience as Communications or Marketing Officer
  • Knowledgeable in digital marketing
  • Understanding of Public Relations and marketing concepts and practices
  • Understanding of insurance and pensions matters
  • Experience in stakeholder management
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • An analytical mind with attention to detail
  • Tech-savvy; i.e. proficient in design software (e.g. Adobe InDesign) is an added advantage

Qualifications

  • A first degree in Public Relations or Marketing
  • A postgraduate qualification or progress towards attainment of one in Public Relations, Marketing or related Social Sciences will be an added advantage
  • At least 2 years’ experience preferably in the insurance and pensions industry

 

 

2) JOB VACANCY: PROCUREMENT OFFICER                                                                                                 LOCATION: HARARE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible processing purchasing transactions for equipment, supplies, capital goods and services.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Process purchase requisitions/orders within purchasing authority
  • Invite, assess and recommend supplier tenders, bids, quotations and proposals.
  • Carry our regular supplier performance evaluations
  • Conduct procurement research, provide guidance and direction by presenting available procurement options to Management
  • Establish and negotiate contract terms and conditions and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Prepare and maintain purchasing records, reports and price lists.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to determine procurement needs, quality and delivery requirements.
  • Assist in the development of specifications for equipment, materials and services to be purchased.
  • Administer contract performance, including delivery, receipt, warranty, damages and insurance.
  • Provide procurement advice to internal clients
  • Comply with and maintain applicable rules, legislation, regulations, standards and best practices.
  • Recommend policies and procedures to ensure the success and compliance of all procurement related activities

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Good knowledge of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act and related legislation

Qualifications

  1. Degree in Purchasing and Supply from a reputable institution
  2. Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Graduate Diploma or equivalent would be an added advantage
  3. Membership of a relevant professional body
  4. At least 5 years’ post qualification relevant experience

 

3)  Job Vacancy:  Principal Analyst (2)                                                  Location:        Harare

 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise assessment of regulated entities’ risk management systems with a view to implementing appropriate supervisory action in line with IPEC prudential standards,
  • Spearhead the development of manuals to guide the operations of the Pensions Development
  • Supervise the evaluation of applications for prescribed asset status on financial instruments meant to finance strategic national development projects.
  • Develop and improve supervisory tools such as policy and procedure manuals, and prudential returns;
  • Evaluate submissions for licensing under different categories of business regulated by IPEC;
  • Cultivate and maintain effective liaison with key stakeholders within and outside the Commission and providing regular feedback to management; and
  • Supervise Analysts and other departmental staff members

 

Required competences and capabilities

  • Sector Knowledge: possess a good basic knowledge of the sector, its services, products, challenges and regulatory environment.
  • Acts and regulation awareness: appreciation of relevant Acts, regulations, circulars, directives, guidelines etc.
  • Technical Knowledge: have insurance industry-specific technical skills
  • Commercial Awareness: ability to identify and recommend appropriate products and services which the insurance and pensions industry could operationalize.
  • Analytical Thinking: ability to identify, access, absorb and interpret relevant information and statistics
  • Research capability: Ability to interrogate regulate entities, issues, information, phenomena using relevant best practice yardsticks, acts and regulations and recommend accordingly
  • Report Writting: ability to write concisely, logically and appropriately for different audiences.
  • Presentation: ability to present effectively and confidently at groups, committees and conferences.
  • People Management: good leadership skills and ability to develop, motivate and manage the performance of a team

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidates should have the following qualifications and experience :

  1. A degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Accountancy, Law, Insurance and Risk Management, IT or related disciplines from a reputable university.
  2. A postgraduate qualification or progress towards attainment of a postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
  3. At least four years relevant expérience at supervisory level.

 

4)  Job Vacancy:      Analysts (10)                                                                     Location:             Harare

 

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • Assessment of the soundness of risk management systems in place in regulated entities in the insurance industry with a view to implementing appropriate supervisory action in line with IPEC prudential standards,
  • Conducting financial analysis on regulated entities with a view to assess the safety and soundness of the same;
  • Monitoring and enforcing compliance by regulated entities with relevant laws and regulations, guidelines, directives, and observance of international best practice by regulated persons;
  • Conducting any other activities in terms of the Insurance Act and the Pensions and Provident Funds Act aimed at protecting the interests of policyholders, policy beneficiaries, fund members, fund beneficiaries as well as fostering and maintaining financial stability;
  • Evaluating applications for prescribed asset status and recommending course of action to management;
  • Recommending to management the requirements for the conduct of insurance business to ensure customers are treated fairly on an ongoing basis and monitoring adherence to the same requirements

 

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidates should have the following qualifications and experience :

  • A degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Insurance and Risk management, Accountancy, Law, IT or related disciplines from a reputable university.
  • At least three years relevant experience.
